Just as the universe thought we had entered a new year without a single Duggar baby on the way, Ben and Jessa Seewald reveal that it was just a hoax as she was pregnant all along!
The couple announced that they are expecting a new addition to their growing family by each releasing a statement on their website TheSeewaldFamily.com. “We are overjoyed that God has blessed us with a baby, due late this Spring!” Jessa began. “From the day we found out we were expecting, we both guessed boy, and if our predictions are right then we already have a ton the clothing and accessories ready to pass down!” she added, referencing the fact that they already have two little boys — 3-year-old Spurgeoon and 23-month-old Henry.
Of course, Jessa would also be excited to mix things up a bit, even if it meant needing to buy new clothes. “At the same time, we would absolutely love it if we found out we were having a girl — though we’ve joked that we’d be starting from square one and might have to learn a few things,” she said.
Ben revealed that the older siblings to be are handling the news a little differently. “Henry doesn’t have a clue what’s coming, but Spurgeon understands and he talks about the baby quite a bit,” he said. “Seeing our boys meet their new sibling for the first time is something we are really looking forward to!”
Ben then tosses in a sports reference as he addresses the fact that the parents in their family are about to be outnumbered. “We realize that, in going from two to three kids, we’re about to switch from man-to-man to zone coverage, so we’ve definitely been taking advice from friends who are already in this stage! We love being parents and are really looking forward to this new arrival!”
It’s unclear if Ben and Jessa still plan on having a HUGE family. Counting On viewers may recall the couple talking about having a very large family just prior to Spurgeon’s birth. “I always had these crazy thoughts when I was young,” Ben said after revealing that he and Jessa were considering adoption as well. “I thought I would be playing football with my 15 sons.” He added, “I always thought it would be cool.”
“I think it would be awesome,” Jessa concurred. “I would love to have 15 sons.” Although the sex ratio is obviously off to a slightly skewed start for the couple’s brood, they didn’t know that at the time. So, I assume that wanting 15 sons would equate to wanting ***does very complicated math*** 30 total children.
