Jersey Shore returning in 2018 for new season, but minus one cast member?

MTV Jersey Shore Family Vacation

MTV premiered it’s brand new series Floribama Shore Monday night, and during the episode they announced they will be doubling down on the “Shore” franchise by bringing the original fist-pumping guidos and guidettes back for a brand new season titled Jersey Shore: Family Vacation! Well, all of the original fist-pumping guidos and guidettes except one apparently. (Not counting Angelina Pivarnick.)

First, here’s the VERY brief clip, which is just a graphic as the new season has reportedly not started filming yet:

Just after the announcement aired, MTV issued a press release with a list of cast members being featured on the show, including Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio,” Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, and Deena Nicole Cortese. If you were checking off names you will realize that Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola was not included on the list. That is all we know at this point.

Having “Family Vacation” added to the title suggests that all of the Jersey Shore spouses and children will be going along for the trip as well, although that has not been confirmed. That scenario would line up perfectly with the concept that JWoww described in her conversations with show creator SallyAnn Salsano earlier this year. Also unknown is the location of the new season. Some have speculated that the cast may return to where it all began in Seaside, New Jersey, but perhaps JWoww’s conversations with SallyAnn could provide a hint. Here is an excerpt from our previous article when a Jersey Shore reunion was just a rumor:

JWoww spilled the tea on talking with 495 Productions’ SallyAnn Salsano in a recent interview with E! News. When asked if a there is a possibility for a Jersey Shore reunion show(s), she says “I’ve actually been texting the creator of Jersey Shore.”

Of course, JWoww and the rest of the crew are (for the most part) more mature now with completely different lives and even children for some. “How do we make this happen?” the 31-year-old mother of two asked SallyAnn. “I need to be in bed by 9PM. I have to take my family and don’t let me get white-girl wasted so I can’t find where my family is. So if you can help me out with those, I’d be down.”

Another hurdle will be how to handle the concept of the reunion, because just as JWoww says, it clearly cannot be all of them getting drunk, partying, fighting, and having sex every night. Or, as JWoww puts it: “We’re old and boring now.”

But JWoww wasn’t without help as she described her ideal reunion situation to be “10 days filming on an island somewhere!”

An island somewhere! A tropical island sure seems to make a lot more sense if they haven’t started filming yet as Seaside Heights in winter would be a pretty rough “family vacation.” I guess we will know more soon.

The announcement that Jersey Shore will be returning is just the latest indication that MTV is looking forward by looking backward. The network seems to be attempting to recapture it’s identity from a decade ago as Jersey Shore follows in the MTV reboot footsteps of other of the network’s classics like Total Request Live and UnPlugged. And much like Floribama Shore expanded the “Shore” franchise, MTV also hoped to do the same with Teen Mom. Unfortunately, their Teen Mom New Jersey show was reportedly cancelled before it ever aired.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see the gang get back together for another full season of Jersey Shore? I must admit I am curious to see what the dynamic will be when nighttime rolls around and half the cast has children and the other half doesn’t.

While you ponder what that will be like, here are the Jersey Shore doing some tweet pumping about the announcement:

Gotta teach these young ones ??????
