Jamie Foxx cast as MLK, dismisses Katie Holmes romance rumors
Director Oliver Stone has confirmed that he is moving forward with the authorized version of Martin Luther King Jr.’s life story. In addition, as it has widely been speculated, Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx will be portraying the civil rights leader.
Stone told The Wall Street Journal that was he was eager to get back behind the lens. The director (JFK, Platoon, Natural Born Killers) highlighted that he is a dramatist and plans to place those characteristics front and center during the development of the film stating, “We’re looking for a way to relate to this extraordinary man.”
In other fair and balanced Foxx news (see what I did there), the 45-year-old star of Django Unchained and Ray shot down recent rumors that a romance was brewing between himself and fellow A-lister, Katie Holmes. Foxx told Nancy O’Dell with Entertainment Tonight:
“[The rumors] are one hundred percent not true. In fact, it’s quite hilarious because we simply danced at a charity event along with a lot of other people.”
Jamie co-starred with Katie’s famous ex-husband Tom Cruise in the film Collateral and the two are known to be good friends.
