Honey Boo Boo’s Uncle Poodle is engaged to boyfriend Alan

Uncle Poodle Boyfriend Alan

Love is still alive in Georgia! On the heels of the fairly shocking news that Here Comes Honey Boo Boo‘s Mama June and Sugar Bear are calling it quits, Lee Thompson, aka “Uncle Poodle,” announced he is engaged to boyfriend Alan.

“To answer questions about this pic YES! Alan and I fact Engaged [sic]! I proposed to him this past weekend and he said YES,” Uncle Poodle said on Twitter of the top picture. “The proposal couldn’t have gone any differently than I would have expected or of hoped 🙂 I couldn’t be happier… I love this man, the love of my life and now fiancee, Alan I love you!”

For good measure, he then added an artful emoji announcement.

Just before getting engaged, Uncle Poodle and Alan took another big step in their relationship by moving in together so that all of their “fur babies” could live under one roof.

Who is Uncle Poodle's Fiance Alan

Even before the proposal, Uncle Poodle regularly referred to Alan as his husband on Twitter and told fans they are married “for all intents and purposes.”

Uncle Poodle’s path to true love hasn’t been easy: Prior to relationship with Alan, Uncle Poodle revealed he was infected with HIV by an ex-boyfriend.

“I later learned he had been HIV positive and was not taking medication and had not bothered to tell me about it. I was advised that I should press charges and, hesitantly, I did,” Uncle Poodle said in 2013. “He is serving a 5-year sentence. I would have been cool with his HIV status if he had been honest. I don’t have an issue with the disease. I would have known how to protect myself.”

Although it surely took some time before Uncle Poodle was able to trust again, it looks like he and Alan are a great match. Alan’s even been accepted by the Thompson-Shannon family, including Mama June — despite her separation from Uncle Poodle’s brother.

Congrats to the couple. We’re already looking forward to the Here Comes Uncle Poodle wedding special!
