American Idol alum Kellie Pickler made a drastic change to her look yesterday in Nashville. She shaved her head bald — but it was all for a good cause. Kellie and her best friend Summer Holt Miller, who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, debuted their look on this morning’s Good Morning America, where they also discussed the life-threatening disease. “Cancer does not discriminate,” Kellie said on GMA. “If this compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it,” Summer added about their bold way to bring attention to early detection.
Last night after going bald, Kellie tweeted, “It’s been a great life-changing day.” She also teased fans about what she’d done saying, “Be sure to watch “Good Morning America” tomorrow morning (Sept 5th). You won’t want to miss this!!! ;)” After the video aired, Kellie jokingly wrote, “Thinking about being “G.I. Jane” for Halloween. ;)”
It is sure shocking to see Kellie bald but good for her for taking any means necessary to bring attention to her cause. She could be saving lives right now and that’s nothing short of amazing. Way to go, Kellie!
Kellie is currently working alongside cancer survivor Trisha May at Athena Bottled Water to raise money for cancer awareness and research.
