George Zimmerman detained after allegedly pulling gun on wife and father-in-law
Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell has informed multiple news outlets that George Zimmerman is being detained by police after a domestic incident involving his wife Shellie and his father-in-law.
Bracknell told TMZ that Zimmerman allegedly threatened Shellie and her family, and had his hand on his gun. Shellie told police George then hit her dad. Shellie, who filed for divorce from George last week, had dialed 911 stating that her father, Colin Morgan, and George got into an argument that escalated.
Shellie Zimmerman’s attorney, Kelly Sims, told ABC News that Zimmerman pulled a knife on Shellie today after she discovered a firearm in the house they shared, and that he then pulled a gun on his wife and her father after a verbal altercation.
As of this post Zimmerman has not been arrested or charged with any crime.
UPDATE: In the 911 call Shellie can be heard proclaiming, “He’s just threatening all of us with his firearm … he’s gonna shoot us!” But, Bracknell just told TMZ, “My understanding is that she never saw his firearm and that is what she is now telling us. So George Zimmerman is free to go and will not be arrested at this time.” He added that Shellie and her father have declined to press charges.
