As more details emerge about Zac Efron’s Skid Row altercation earlier this week, friends are speaking out with their concerns for the actor.
“Zac’s a loner,” one source told TMZ. “He goes out rarely and the idea of him driving for miles to go to some sushi restaurant in downtown L.A. after midnight is preposterous.”
The source said, unfortunately, the more plausible explanation is that Zac’s fallen off the wagon — particularly because his “bodyguard” is a convicted drug dealer.
According to police, patrolling officers in a bad part of town witnessed Zac and his bodyguard in a fight with at least three other people after midnight on Sunday. Cops broke up the first, but not before Zac was dealt a hard blow to his (recently broken) jaw. He told police, “It was the hardest I’ve ever been hit in my life.”
Zac’s bodyguard later told TMZ the attacking transients stabbed him in the chest, face and stomach before Zac fought them off with a broken vodka bottle. However, police officials said the bodyguard wasn’t injured.
Sources close to Zac now say they aren’t surprised about the developments because the actor never went to formal treatment facilities for his reported cocaine addiction in the first place. Instead, they say he retreated to a friend’s Los Angeles home for private therapy sessions twice last year.
