Law enforcement officials have revealed that Zac Efron was involved in a melee just after midnight Sunday on skid row in Los Angeles.
Cops were out on their beat under the Harbor Freeway when they claim to have witnessed Efron and another man identified as his bodyguard in a throw down with at least 3 other people.
The cops broke up the fight but not before Zac took a vicious haymaker to the pie hole. When the actor was questioned, he told the authorities that he had run out of gas and was sitting in his ride waiting for a tow truck. While biding their time they admitted to chucking a bottle out of the window – the contents of which haven’t been revealed – and it busted on the pavement near some transients. Bad idea right?
Said transients took offense believing the bottle was thrown at them on purpose so they confronted Zac and his hired protector. Two men went after the bodyguard and when Zac stepped out of his ride to try to help he got thumped in the mouth telling police, “It was the hardest I’ve ever been hit in my life.”
Efron has had his struggles with drug addiction – having attended rehab twice last year for cocaine abuse. The area where the fisticuffs went down is a known high-alert area for drug deals. A source told TMZ that Efron was “obviously intoxicated.”
Law enforcement said that no one was arrested because it was viewed as “mutual combat.” Not sure how that works but with Zac’s recent struggles this latest situation doesn’t look good at all. Hopefully it was just a case of the High School Musical star being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
