Flavor Flav didn’t tell girlfriend Liz Trujillo he was doing Flavor of Love dating show
When Dr. Laura Berman asked Flavor Flav and girlfriend Liz Trujillo to share the lowest point of their relationship, Flavor and Liz knew exactly what it was: the day Liz found out Flavor, who she’d been dating seriously for eight months, signed up to find “true love” on dating show Flavor of Love without even talking to her about it.
“When we first got together, we fell in love everything was perfect until she learned exactly the kind of television shows that I was doing,” Flavor Flav revealed. “I ain’t gonna lie, but it’s been crazy.”
Liz explained, “We were already together for eight months in a committed relationship, and we’re in a deli and the guy is like ‘Congratulations Flav, on your new show and finding true love and dating 25 beautiful women.’ I looked at him and I was like ‘A new show, what? Huh? Finding your true love? I don’t understand.”
She thought to herself that Flav couldn’t have signed the contracts without asking her first, but it turns out he had.
Flavor Flav’s reort? “I told you not to watch it, and you just had to go do it anyway.”
At this Dr. Jenn interjected “That’s interesting, your attitude, the way you just said that.”
But Flavor remained defensive “I was trying to protect our feelings and our relationship because I cared.”
It seems like these two have many more issues than just this one, but it’s not a small betrayal to go on a dating show without consulting your partner, and then getting upset when she ends up watching the show.
UPDATE: Things have really gone south for the couple since appearing on the show. Flav, real name William Drayton Jr., has a trial date September 20, 2013 for allegedly assaulting Liz and her 17-year-old son. They reportedly were fighting over allegations that he was cheating on her. Flav faced up to 12 years in prison if convicted.
