First-time Grammy-nominee Regina Spektor is skipping the show for a legitimate reason
Despite earning her first Grammy nomination, Regina Spektor is skipping Sunday night’s award show.
“I was so happy to be nominated for my first Grammy! I would have definitely gone to LA for all the fun, in a party dress and with bells on, if I wasn’t so super pregnant at the moment,” she said in a Facebook post on Thursday. “Jack and I are very excited to be expecting a brand new human together!”
The “brand new human” will be the first for Regina and husband Jack Dishel. They wed in 2011.
Regina didn’t reveal how far along she is, but said she’s spent the pregnancy “writing songs, dreaming up the new record, cooking soup, eating soup, and being very grateful for the people in my life — family, friends, and you.”
As a fan of Regina’s music, I’m hoping the new baby isn’t the only upcoming addition to her house… Fingers crossed she can add a long overdue Grammy to her mantle. She is nominated in the Best Song Written for Visual Media for her Orange is the New Black song, “You’ve Got Time.”
Regina told Rolling Stone in August that Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan gave her a lot of songwriting freedom.
“I got to really experience the world of the show and got to see what the characters were really like and it kind of helped me finish the song.”
