Elin Nordegren is the embodiment of class in new interview about Tiger Woods
Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods’ divorce had all the makings of a seriously messy split — and very few would have blamed the mother-of-two for publicly calling her philandering husband a few bad names. (Although many in the media did that dirty work for her.)
But, in the years since Tiger was revealed to be a serial cheater, Elin’s kept her head down to complete her studies at Rollins College (where she just graduated with top honors) and to raise her children. Now speaking out for the first time in four years, Elin continued to show class.
“My relationship with Tiger is centered around our children and we are doing really good – we really are – and I am so happy that is the case. He is a great father,” Elin told People.
Although she didn’t have anything particularly negative to say about Tiger, Elin confessed the word “betrayal” wasn’t even sufficient to describe her feelings when Tiger’s affairs were revealed in 2009.
“In the beginning, you tamp down the animosity for the kids’ sake,” said the former model. “I’m not going to deny that I went through the wringer. But I don’t think I doubted we’d end up here. That was always my dream, that the kids can have two loving parents that show respect for each other. And I feel that’s what they have.”
Elin said she coped by doing extensive therapy. She still meets with a counselor every week. No longer bitter, Elin’s even been photographed being friendly with Tiger’s girlfriend, skier Lindsey Vonn.
“In general, in any kind of step-parent relationship, I’m happy that there’s somebody else loving my children.”
Now, if that isn’t one of the most impressive co-parenting perspectives you’ve ever heard, then I don’t know what could be!
