VIDEO Duck Dynasty’s Alan Robertson says dad Phil Robertson is ‘a 21st Century prophet’
One week after Duck Dynasty Phil Robertson stirred up fresh controversy with new statements about sin and homosexuality, Alan Robertson not only defended his father — but likened him to a saint.
“My dad, Phil Robertson, has the heart and the mindset of a prophet. He’s most compared, of course, to John the Baptist… Long hair, long beard, naturally camouflaged, he ate off the land and he pointed people to Christ,” Alan said on May 22 during the the Watchmen on the Wall National Briefing, a conference where pastors discussed biblical and moral issues. “He was a voice of one, calling in the wilderness, prepare the way for the Lord.”
Besides physical similarities, Alan said his dad and John the Baptist are also alike in their commitment to the Lord above all else.
“Prophets tend to not care about their public image. They tend to talk about judgment as if it’s real and they speak what God gives them to speak,” Alan said. “That’s what my dad does. He is, in that sense, a 21st century prophet.”
Alan also encouraged the listeners to share their messages “of the truth about what the bible says” and grace — no matter the backlash.
Here’s the video queued to where Alan starts talking about his dad…
