In her recent podcast interview with Vince Russo, Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans was asked about some of the controversies surrounding, and criticisms of, her husband David Eason. She responded by revealing that the next season of the show would help clarify things. “I feel like David will show his true self,” she said.
It seems David got a little impatient to show his “true self” — and may have forced MTV to remove him from the show completely — by going on a homophobic and transphobic rant on Twitter.
Ironically, the whole thing started with David stating that getting a social media account should be like getting a gun. “Social media is a very dangerous weapon,” he tweeted, “maybe there should be a mental health screening process before you open a new account. Just so you wont go bullying or harassing people to death ya know ?” (I assume the tweet was largely a response to David receiving criticism for posting photos of Jenelle firing an automatic rifle almost immediately after the most recent school shooting in Florida.)
David continued by attempting to offer up some of his opinions on the gun debate in the wake of the Florida school shooting. After promoting the concept of having armed security guards in schools, David shared a link to a news article about North and South Carolina considering concealed-carry gun permits for schools. “It only makes sense to protect our kids the proper way,” David wrote along with the link, adding “the only way we know how.”
Twitter user @SalPollock responded to David by tweeting: “Education is how we protect our kids. Starts with intentional parenting.”

@salpollock: For you I would limit exposure of unnecessary weaponry around the house (stop glorifying assaults rifles) teach your children to be aware of their surroundings at school. Ask them how the day went. Teach them how to solve problems without calling people names or using force.

@Twisted43071252: @davideportcity I’m pro gun, but I have to ask about the remarks regarding LQBTQ? My daughter is a lesbian, and is one of the most perfect acting kids I’ve ever seen. We don’t teach hate at my home regarding anything unless it’s dangerous.

It seems like every six months there is some sort of petition to have Jenelle Eason fired from Teen Mom 2, but MTV is well aware that she is the number one ratings generator of all the moms on the show. The network has avoided cutting Jenelle loose, thanks in part to putting a positive spin on her bad behavior with PSAs, etc. There is no PSA for what David tweeted today. Producers of Duck Dynasty, Counting On and other shows will be the first to tell you that there is a VERY hard line in the sand when it comes to this sort of blatant and unapologetic prejudice. There is no way they can keep David on the show, and I think it would be too much to try to keep Jenelle without him.
I cannot imagine how freaked out Teen Mom 2 producers are right now. David’s phone must be BLOWING UP. Of course, I guess he could try the “My account was hacked” trick?
