Cooking Channel’s “Dr. Mixologist” Darryl Robinson found dead in NYC apartment

Former Cooking channel star Darryl Robinson (aka Dr. Mixologist) was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment on Wednesday. According to law enforcement sources, police arrived at Robinson’s Bed-Stuy apartment around midnight after a concerned friend was unable to reach him. Police say there were no signs of trauma.

Darryl Robinson’s assistant Monique shared the sad news with his Facebook fans on Wednesday, writing, “I’m sad to inform you that D passed away yesterday. He was full of light and charisma, we will all miss him he was like a big brother to me. I will keep you updated with information on the service.”

A Cooking Channel spokesman tweeted Wednesday, “At learning of this morning’s sad news, our thoughts go out to Darryl Robinson’s family & friends.”

The network’s website for Drink Up has been updated with the message, “In Memory of Darryl Robinson 1963 – 2014 Our thoughts go out to Darryl’s family and friends.”

In addition to appearing on Drink Up, Darryl made numerous appearances demonstrating his mixology skills on such shows as Access Hollywood, The Wendy Williams Show and VH1’s Morning Buzz.

The medical examiner has yet to release an official cause of death. Darryl was 50 years old.
