VIDEO PHOTOS Icelandic beauty queen that busted Whitey Bulger

Whitey Bulger was #1 on the F.B.I.’s Most Wanted List until he got busted at the age of 81 living in Santa Monica, California with his long time girlfriend. His legacy was larger than life back in Boston and since his arrest, the Robin Hood figure has been indicted for 19 murders. His apprehension made national headlines and now the woman, Anna Bjornsdottir, who was finally able to identify Whitey has received her 2 million dollar award for leading the authorities to Bulger. Anna was a former Icelandic beauty queen, model and b-list movie actress and I’ve dug up some vintage video and images to extrapolate just how strange it is that this lady of all people was the one who brought down Whitey.

What does Whitey Bulger look like now? Did the FBI composites come close?

It is silly to think that we amateurs get accurate information from the FBI when they are on the trail of a fugitive. They tell us what they think will do the job, and then change their story if they find another angle. I get it. But, there is a pretty big gap between what Whitey Bulger looks like in his newest mugshots and what the FBI told us he would look like, and it feels more like a mistake than a strategy. There is also a huge difference between the way Bulger and his girlfriend, Catherine Grieg have lived for the past 16 years and what we were told they were probably doing.

Never underestimate daytime TV and social networking. After putting Whitey Bulger near the top of their Most Wanted list for 16 years, the FBI just learned what Oprah has known all along: prime time is over rated. It only took the FBI’s innovative campaign, which included airing PSA’s during shows such as Dr. Oz and…

FBI uses Daytime TV, Facebook, and girlfriend to find fugitive, Whitey Bulger

Although it sounds something like the plot of last year’s Johnny Depp/Angelina Jolie film, The Tourist, there’s nothing fictional about the FBI’s new strategy for warming up their cold case against Boston mobster, Whitey Bulger. Instead of going straight for Bulger, the FBI is focusing on his girlfriend, Catherine Elizabeth Grieg, who they think might not be in as deep a cover as Bulger and who they hope will lead them to the alleged big bad himself. (The 2006 Martin Scorcese film, The Departed, owes much to Bulger’s story.)
