Big Smo Workin’ lyrics and music video
More than two million viewers tuned in Wednesday night for the premiere of A&E’s new reality series Big Smo, which documents the professional and personal struggles of “The King of Hick Hop” Big Smo and his friends and family. The network promoted the show heavily and gave the premiere their best time slot — just behind the Season 6 premiere of cable’s most popular reality series, Duck Dynasty.
The pairing seemed a perfect fit given the similarly rugged Southern characters on the two series, and A&E further cross-promoted the two shows by using Big Smo’s song “Workin'” in a couple preview videos for the new season of Duck Dynasty. The combination of hearing a portion of the song on the DD spots as well as the huge success of the Big Smo premiere has many people looking for the full version of the song.
So, we tracked down the official music video and even transcribed the full Big Smo “Workin'” lyrics! Check ’em out — and be sure to catch new episodes of Big Smo, airing Wednesday nights at 10:30/9:30c on A&E. (And you can check out the entire first episode, “Go Big or Go Home,” online at AETV.com.)
I woke up this morning
Tied my boots up
cause I knew it was gonna be a long day
Tied my truck up
Grabbed my coffee, kissed my baby
And got on my way
Cause I’m workin’
Til it’s hurtin’
That’s only way to make an honest day’s pay
So I’m workin’, even when it’s hurtin’
That’s the only way to make an honest day’s wage
Yeah, I’m up early with the birdies
ready to get dirty
This ain’t a song for you if you asleep at 7:30
I rise like the sun on the back of the pines
It’s full throttle in the bottle like that homemade ‘shine
I’m just trying to make a livin’, boss man trippin’,
I’m all the time strong, I don’t pay him no attention
Money in the mason jar, country boy bitchin’,
Ole lady, three kids, take a lot to fill the kitchen,
Fingernail’s dirty, my back stay hurtin’,
You can bet I gotta plan for every penny that I’m earning,
I ain’t asking for a raise, but I know the boss heard me
Nobody on this jobsite’s workin’ like I’m workin’,
30 below, to a hunded degrees,
You ain’t pushin’ hard enough if your hands don’t bleed,
I’m the first to clock in and the last to leave,
and I ain’t never had a problem rolling up my sleeves
I woke up this morning
Tied my boots up
cause I knew it was gonna be a long day
Tied my truck up
Grabbed my coffee, kissed my baby
And got on my way
Cause I’m workin’,
Til it’s hurtin’,
That’s only way to make an honest day’s pay
So I’m workin’, even when it’s hurtin’
That’s the only way to make an honest day’s wage
I’m at the door by sun up, focused on the come up
We never sleep in; that ain’t how we was brought up
I push it to the limit when the money gets low
And been known to work past when the plant whistle blows
Paycheck feelin’ like a lottery ticket
I might save a couple bucks if my kids don’t spend it
Don’t matter cause I love it, every day of my life
Spend more time on the clock than with my wife
State to state, never late, puttin’ miles on the road
Drop it off, fill it up, get me to my next load
Call my ole lady, let her know I’ll be late,
And I ain’t worried cause I know that she gonna save me a plate
I told you
30 below, to a hundred degrees,
You ain’t pushin’ hard enough if your hands don’t bleed,
I’m the first to clock in and the last to leave,
and I ain’t never had a problem rolling up my sleeves
I woke up this morning
Tied my boots up
Cause I knew it was gonna be a long day
Tied my truck up
Grabbed my coffee, kissed my baby
And got on my way
Cause I’m workin’,
Til it’s hurtin’
That’s only way to make an honest day’s pay
So I’m workin’, even when it’s hurtin’
That’s the only way to make an honest day’s wage
Workin’
Workin’
Workin’
Workin’
I woke up this morning
Tied my boots up
Cause I knew it was gonna be a long day
Tied my truck up
Grabbed my coffee, kissed my baby
And got on my way
Cause I’m workin’,
til it’s hurtin’
That’s only way to make an honest day’s pay
So I’m workin’, even when it’s hurtin’
That’s the only way to make an honest day’s wage
