The Bachelor curse strikes again! After seven months of engagement, Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff announced their split today.
“[They] have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement,” the couple said in a joint statement, via People. “They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to think everyone who has supported them through this journey.”
After their season of The Bachelor wrapped with Chris’ proposal in March, he participated in Dancing With the Stars. There was a lot of pressure on the couple during that time — with many viewers noting when Whitney wasn’t there for support.
Earlier this month, Chris addressed the rumors of relationship trouble in an interview with Us Weekly:
We’re together and we’re in love and we’re handling this like two adults. She’s got a life too and she’s got a job, and she’s got a career and she’s doing that….She’s got to do what makes her happy and I’m focused on [Dancing With the Stars] and having a great time and she’s happy for me.
Reportedly Chris wasn’t as keen to return to his Iowa farm as he said persisted.
“Chris has become obsessed with living in Hollywood, and loves the fame he got from being on The Bachelor and on Dancing With The Stars,” a source told Radar Online after Chris was eliminated from the competition earlier this month. “His ego has grown out of control, and he now has a publicist and manager….He would love to become known as a host for big events.”
