AUDIO Hear the spot that won pastor Terry Jones a new car for not burning a Quran
There are a number of ways Americans can go about winning a free car. They can take their chances on The Price Is Right or Wheel Of Fortune. They can enter one of those radio station contests for who can keep their hands on the new car the longest. And in the case of infamous pastor Terry Jones you can not burn a Quran and call out a wacky car dealer on a silly advertisement pledge.
Brad Benson is a former center for the New York Football Giants and a successful auto dealer in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He is known for his oddball and off the wall advertisements. One of his crowning achievements was purchasing one of the old goalposts from the now destroyed Meadowlands Stadium. He now has that bad boy erected and proudly displayed at his business which per his website is the #1 Hyundai dealership in America.
In one of these kooky spots called “The International Idiot Award” he promised pastor Jones the use of a brand new Hyundai for a year if he went against his pledge and did not burn a Quran. Well as every news publication in the world can verify the nut-job pastor backed off from his 9-11 Quran burning plans and is now calling out Benson and requesting his ride!
Here is the spot followed by a transcript:
Hey did you guys hear about this crackpot Reverend down in Florida? His plan was to burn the Quran in commemoration of September 11th and to quote, “Send a message to the radical element in Islam.” Unquote. A warning? Yeah I’m sure a book burning is going to have those terrorists quivering in their suicide vests. Reverend, you’re this week’s winner of our International Idiot’s Award and your prize, if you stop all this Quran burning nonsense for good and go back to handling snakes or whatever it is you do down there, I’ll give you a brand new Hyundai to use for a year. You idiot.
This little promise did not go unnoticed by the idiot pastor from the sunshine state. He contacted Benson provided proof of ID and will be picking up his ride from the dealer in the near future. You’ll notice that Benson only promised the use of a car for a year but has decided to just give the pastor the car so he can be free of his connection to the controversial Jones. As for the pastor he stated that he will not keep the car but instead donate it to a charity that assists with abused Muslim women.
