Ashley Madison survey: Surprising places cheaters go to on dates
I don’t know about you, but when I think of what goes down during romantic affairs, I think elaborate cover-ups and midday hotel rendezvous — not dinner dates at Outback Steakhouse. But, according to a survey of more than 40,000 members of the pro-infidelity website Ashley Madison, chain restaurants and steak houses are the most popular destinations for public dates with lovers.
“Chain restaurants are larger and less conspicuous,” said Noel Biderman, Ashley Madison founder, in a press release. “Steak houses are always a popular affair destination since they’re not only dimly lit but also commonly found in business districts, close to hotels where the these type of dates typically end.”
The survey sampled only city-dwelling members of Ashley Madison to determine the 10 most popular dining destinations for cheaters. The fact that restaurants typically thought of as family dining institutions top the list is a little surprising. After all, isn’t it playing with fire to invite a lover to the Red Lobster around the corner from home?
Worry not: Cheaters are one step ahead. They generally arrange for meetings at least 20 miles away, preferably near a hotel for a little off-the-menu dessert.
The decision to eat at a casual restaurant is also part of a cheater’s strategy, Biderman told New York Post.
“You can put it on your credit card and not worry about your partner seeing that you went somewhere romantic like Per Se,” he said.
So, you could search through your partner’s receipts to see if there was a mysterious meeting at the Cheesecake Factory. Or, you could just see if your spouse is a member of Ashley Madison. Your call…
