Aviva Drescher joined the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City during season 5 after Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon and Alex McCord got the boot. Throughout the season, Aviva and Ramona Singer butted heads and their feuding became one of the main story lines of the show — but were their antics a bit too much for producers? According to a new report, Aviva may not be asked back for season 6.
Page Six is reporting that Ramona Singer, Heather Thompson, and Carole Radziwill have all been confirmed for the next installment of the series but Aviva’s future is simply “pending” — and not in a promising sort of way.
So, how is Aviva taking the news? Apparently, she’s oblivious. Last season, she wasn’t able to film in her Upper East Side co-op because of building rules, so before filming begins on season 6, Aviva has taken the necessary steps to be sure she’s completely accessible to producers — by moving. “She’s literally packing up boxes to move into this house she’s rented, which she doesn’t even like, so she can be on the show more — and they’re not bringing her back,” said one insider.
While Heather and Carole haven’t said much about their return, Ramona recently spoke out. “While I will not comment on my contract negotiations with Bravo, I will say that I am definitely onboard for Season 6 . . . and could not be more pleased to be part of the cast,” she said in a statement.
Although Ramona is happy to be back, rumor has it that she wanted much more money than they ended up giving her. In fact, she demanded the network double her salary prior to season 6 but Bravo wasn’t having it. The source claims, “They want Ramona in the show because she’s the person everyone loves to hate but they weren’t going to pay her that kind of money.”
LuAnn de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan (who along with Aviva skipped the Bravo Upfronts earlier this month) reportedly have contracts on the table but they have yet to officially sign on.
In the wake of the tragedy in Boston, Aviva released a statement, offering her support to the victims who have lost limbs. “To anyone who has suffered limb loss, I am here for information and guidance,” Aviva told Celebrity Magnet’s Tom Murro. “I would love to talk with anyone, listen to their story and give any advice or support they need. This is a vile tragedy, but a time to unite with compassion.”
