REPORT Nick Loeb and Sofia Vergara select a surrogate for their baby

Sofia Vergara and her fiancé Nick Loeb have been on and off since 2008, and like most couples they’d love to be parents. Unfortunately, Sofia’s busy career doesn’t leave much room for a pregnancy, so they have reportedly decided to explore other options and are currently in the early stages of arranging a surrogate.

“The child will be biologically Sofia and Nick’s baby, and she has selected a surrogate — who is a very close girlfriend — to carry the baby,” a source tells The NY Post‘s Page Six. “A procedure has taken place, and Sofia and Nick will find out in a few weeks if it was successful, if the surrogate is pregnant, and if they will become parents.”

Sofia has one son already, 21-year-old Manolo, from her marriage to childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez, which ended in 1993.

“A baby is something they’ve both wanted for a while, particularly Nick, who has been pushing for it. He is a little uneasy that the surrogate is Sofia’s close friend, but is very excited about becoming a father.”

Sofia and Nick became engaged while celebrating her birthday with friends in Mexico last summer.

On the currently airing season of Sofia’s Modern Family, her character Gloria has just given birth to a baby, and for months, Sofia wore a prosthetic baby bump on set. It looks like she may have caught baby fever!
