A&E’s swingers reality series Neighbors With Benefits canceled after 2 episodes

Neighbors With Benefits cancelled

Despite getting some pretty strong numbers for the premiere episode, A&E has canceled their swingers reality series Neighbors With Benefits after just two weeks.

A&E pulled the show prior to last night’s scheduled episode, and cast member Tony uploaded a YouTube video today confirming the show has been canceled:

“The cast is in high spirits,” Tony reveals, before thanking A&E for the opportunity and saying of their decision, “It sounds like maybe they are going in a different direction, and from being in an alternative lifestyle, I can understand wanting to find yourself and going in a different direction.”

There were nine one-hour episodes of Neighbors With Benefits, and it’s unknown what will happen with the seven unaired episodes. “The project was finished so we are definitely hoping it gets aired at some point somewhere,” Tony says in the clip. As far as what the cast plans on doing moving forward, Tony says he will continue to do his podcast and that everyone will remain active on social media.

And speaking of social media, other Neighbors With Benefits cast members used their accounts to react to the cancellation news:

Neighbors With Benefits premiered to more than 800,000 viewers on March 22, but was met with mostly negative reviews. (Check out our review here.) The viewership plummeted almost 40% before the second episode on March 29, which pulled in just under 500,000 viewers. The show joins VH1’s series Hot GRITS as new 2015 reality shows canceled after just two episodes.
