90 Day Fiance Season 7 confirmed
It appears that things will not be getting any less stupider on TLC any time soon as the network has officially renewed their HUUUUUGELY popular reality show 90 Day Fiance for a seventh season.
The renewal announcement was first reported by Deadline earlier today and should come as no surprise to anyone. The show’s sixth season finished with some of the highest ratings in the show’s history, and reached Twitter’s top 10 national trending topics throughout the season — including the number one slot during the finale.
“It is so exciting that, after six seasons, the tried and true original 90 Day Fiance is captivating more viewers than ever,” said Howard Lee, President and General Manager of TLC in a press release after the Season 6 finale. “From laughter to tears to a ticking clock, TLC is dedicated to giving our viewers a rollercoaster of emotions with 90 Day Fiance — and we’re just getting started.”
More from TLC’s press release:
The unpredictable, emotional and addictive TLC hit that started it all, the original 90 Day Fiance series just wrapped its sixth season as the franchise’s highest-rated among W18-34 and second highest among W25-54/18-49. During its run, 90 Day Fiance was the #1 cable program on Sunday nights among W18-34, #2 among W25-54/18-49 and averaged 2.5M P2+. Additionally, season six sparked social media attention, reaching Twitter’s top 10 national trending topics throughout the season, and was #1 during the season finale.
While the off-screen drama from the Season 6 cast members seems to have alienated some of the more diehard fans of the show, all of the domestic violence incidents, death threats, and innumerable GoFundMe campaigns do not appear to have impacted TV viewership in the least. Unfortunately for those diehard fans, this probably means that TLC will hope to deliver more of the same in Season 7!
It’s not known when 90 Day Fiance Season 7 will premiere, but the network is in no rush as they have three other shows in the franchise that they can air before then. In addition to the follow-up series Happily Ever after, there is also the even more popular Before the 90 Days as well as the brand new spin-off concept The Other Way, which will reportedly feature Americans moving abroad for love.
Personally, I’ve been swimming in the murky whirlpool of Season 6 off-screen drama for months now, and I will admit that my excitement for a new season is tempered a bit. BUT, that is pretty much always the case just after a finale, so I assume I will be as excited as anyone when I see that first Season 7 preview trailer with a fresh batch of faces! I just hope that TLC is FINALLY able to recruit a gay couple to be on the show. ?
