1ST PHOTO Jason Momoa as Aquaman from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder has finally relieved our collective imaginations of the burden of trying to imagine Khal Drogo as Aquaman. Zack tweeted the photo above of Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa as the web-toed DC superhero, and it looks as though the oft-maligned king of the underwater ATL might finally have crossed over into being cool.
“There is only one true King,” Zack wrote along with the photo of Momoaquaman, adding the hashtag, #unitetheseven. Overlaying the image are the words “UNITE THE SEVEN” in all caps.
In the photo, Jason Momoa has eschewed the infamous orange of his comic book and TV incarnations in favor of nearly colorless matching scaled armor and body art. The long-haired sea denizen is also sporting a rather sizable trident that actually has five prongs — so I guess a quintdent?
Momoa’s Aquaman is joining up with other Justice Leaguers in the DC equivalent of The Avengers. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to premiere on March 26, 2016 and will also feature Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred. Also featured in the film will be Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
