In perhaps an overzealous attempt to prove that justice is blind–and not in a good way–Montana-based production company Warm Springs has signed Sarah Palin to a deal to host her own daytime TV court series.
“It’s a production deal,” a source tells People. “What happens next is she’ll meet with stations, make a pilot and sell it.”
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the deal and says “Big Ticket Entertainment’s Larry Lyttle, whose credits include both Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown, is attached to the project as an executive producer.” The site adds that “syndication vets Barry Wallach and Lee Villas are onboard to sell the project.”
Both People and THR report that the Sarah Palin courtroom series is tentatively scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2017.
In case you were asking yourself, “Does Sarah Palin have a law degree?” (like Judge Judy, Judge Joe Brown, Judge Wapner, and other similar hosts) the answer is no. So why would a production company give Sarah Palin a court show? “Palin’s telegenic personality, wide appeal and common sense wisdom make her a natural for this kind of format,” says People‘s source, “and she was Warm Springs’ top pick for this project.”
The announcement came shortly after a lawsuit filed against Judy Sheindlen revealed that she makes $45 million dollars a year as the star of Judge Judy, which is the number one syndicated daily show on television.
So: would you tune in to watch Sarah Palin preside over a courtroom? I have to confess I would need to at least catch an episode or two just to see if it was bad enough to be good.
Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for that Judge Phaedra Parks show that was rumored a few years back! Whatever happened to that?!
