REPORT Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar adopting kid(s) in 2016

20 Kids and Counting

Can you say 20 Kids & Counting? According to a new report, 19 Kids & Counting mom and pop Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are planning to expand their famous brood in 2016 by adopting one–or more!–children.

“It’s been a dream of theirs to have more children, and they are happy to adopt siblings if that’s their best chance,” an insider reveals in the latest issue of Life & Style. “Michelle says she doesn’t care if they adopt a boy or a girl, or what ethnicity the child is. She says she just wants to help a child’s life.” Yes, but would they be willing to adopt a child whose name doesn’t start with “J?”

The source adds “They’ve been mulling it over for a long time, and they feel the time is right to get legal advice and get the process underway.”

Jim Bob and Michelle have indeed been considering adoption for some time: Michelle spoke about the topic back in 2013, a little more than a year after she suffered a miscarriage during her last pregnancy in December of 2011. “We are open to the idea of adoption,” Michelle said, at the time. “We are praying about it, and we will see what God has in store. Love for children has been placed on our hearts.”

And it wasn’t just mom and dad who were in support of expanding the Duggar family. “The kids are definitely pushing towards wanting us to open our home up to another child or more,” Michelle added. “They see how much we have been blessed with and how little so many children have and they want to share. We tell our children that would have to be something that is God’s will for our family, and we will see if it is. Our children love children, and we all do.”

Although the rather sizable Duggar family all sprung from Michelle’s womb, she and Jim Bob are no stranger to adoption. “We have friends that have adopted children who are a great influence in our lives, and we have talked about their experiences. So it’s something we’ve considered,” Michelle revealed.

At the time, another pregnancy still seemed like a possibility, and Michelle added: “We have to know for sure that is what God wants for us to do. When he gives us a child [through pregnancy], there is no doubt in our minds that is what He wants, but when it comes to adoption, we would have to know for sure that was His will.”

So–what do you think about reality television’s biggest family continuing to grow via adoption? And does the recent scandal involving Josh Duggar, who is no longer in the home, affect your opinion?
