Alicia Silverstone on vaccines, tampons and elimination communication

Alicia Silverstone’s new book The Kind Mama chronicles a myriad of the Clueless star’s parenting methods.

The actress made headlines in 2012 when she shared a video of herself pre-chewing her son’s food and spitting it into his mouth, so it shouldn’t be too surprising that a book featuring her own brand of life tips in relation to having and caring for a baby might be a little, shall we say, unconventional.

The fine folks over at The Daily Beast took the time to share some highlights from The Kind Mama. Here’s a few of the tidbits they uncovered.

On vaccinating your kids:

“While there has not been a conclusive study of the negative effects of such a rigorous one-size-fits-all, shoot-’em-up schedule, there is increasing anecdotal evidence from doctors who have gotten distressed phone calls from parents claiming their child was ‘never the same’ after receiving a vaccine. And I personally have friends whose babies were drastically affected in this way.”

On the danger of using tampons:

“Your chichi is the most absorbent part of your body. Unfortunately, feminine-care manufacturers aren’t required to tell you what’s in their products, which means that no one’s talking about the potential pesticide residues from non-organic cotton and the ‘fragrances’ containing hormone-upsetting, fertility-knocking phthalates that are snuggling up to your hoo-ha.”

Silverstone also talks about becoming a “potty whisperer” as she endorses the multiple benefits of elimination communication-trained babies who are “much more content leaving their business in the grass than having to sleep and eat accompanied by their own pee and poo.”

And in on additional observation shared by TDB, Alicia suggests that you quit trying to have a baby. She writes, “Eat well, get healthy, then ditch all the planning and trying and just let it flow. There’s no better way to make a baby than with yummy, soulful sex!”
