Taylor Swift shares photo of dad for Father’s Day

Taylor Swift shared love for her dad on Facebook with this message: “Happy Father’s Day and a shout out to my fantastic dad for loving me even when I wore outfits like this.” Who is Taylor Swift’s dad Scott Swift? What does he do?

Taylor’s 61-year-old dad Scott is a financial advisor who started Swift Group, which is part of Merrill Lynch. Scott’s financial prowess inspired his now very wealthy daughter to do a little stock trading herself. “My dad is so passionate about what he does, like in the way I’m passionate about music,” Taylor said. “He’s so gung-ho for his job, and I saw how happy it made him and I just thought, like, ‘I can broke stocks.'”

Taylor’s dad married her mom Andrea Finlay February 20, 1988 in Texas, and Taylor was born a year later, followed by brother Austin in 1992. He knew Taylor was musically inclined and talented at a young age, but by the age 13 she proved there was proof that she wasn’t just chasing pipe dreams. “We had a kid that was really passionate about it, and when she was 13 she got a development deal at RCA,” Scott said of his daughter. “That was the confirmation that maybe she wasn’t crazy, because her writing is why she got it.”

In other Taylor Swift news, the 23-year-old is starting the process of writing her next album.

“It’s starting, the anxiety is starting, and when the anxiety starts, the writing happens right afterwards usually,” she told reporters at the CMT Awards last week. “I like to write for two years before I finish an album. Whatever I write the first year is going to get thrown away because I’m going to sound [the same as I have before]. I feel like staying the same is the easy way to go, but it’s not where I want to go musically.”
