Is Amber Portwood leaving Teen Mom?

Teen Mom Amber Portwood is reportedly still struggling with depression and is still suicidal

As the legal realities of Teen Mom Amber Portwood recently closed in around her, new details would seem to indicate that her days on the MTV show that made her famous could very well be numbered.

As we reported, Portwood has been accepted in to a live-in halfway house called Sister 2 Sister Ministries. TMZ has dug up further specifics in regards to the court’s ruling and the details don’t seem to leave much room for reality TV.

Law enforcement sources stated that her time to be spent at Sister 2 Sister Ministries could be up to 3 years. In addition, she has to get a full time 9-5 type court-approved job that she must attend at least 5 days a week. All this seems pretty straight forward but here’s the kicker…

The judge has banned Amber from taping any MTV project while at the halfway house or at her job or during court appearances. In addition she can’t shoot any footage while being in the presence of any of the other girls housed at Sister 2 Sister.

As we reported, The judge was on the ball and contacted MTV to make sure they wouldn’t attempt any kind of breech of contract suit against Portwood and they assured the court this would not happen.

Remember, all of these requirements as listed above are needed to be done by Amber to keep her out of jail. She can’t just casually break these rules and get a slap on the wrist. Best I can tell, she’s mandated to either be at the halfway house, at work, and sometimes in court so I’m not seeing where she would have much if any time for cameras. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, her employ with MTV does not count as the above required court-approved full time job.

While going through this court case, Amber testified to the judge that she would be willing to quit Teen Mom. She said:

“I want to quit [Teen Mom], and I will.”

In light of this news, do you think Amber’s days on Teen Mom are over and if so is that a good thing for her and her daughter Leah moving forward?

I hope this will help Amber. I just wonder if they will replace her on TM. With someone like Whitney from season 1.

        That’s good for her.
I think teen mom only made her life worse to be honest.
Now she can fully concentrate on herself and her daughter, which is what she needs.
Hopefully she can pull through this and be the great mom we all know she can be.

this sounds like a good plan for amber. having a steady job and positive people around her is exactly what she needs.

I think it would be good for her to leave the show & concentrate on her recovery. I bet MTV will still get a bit of footage, because there is sometime between whatever job she gets & when she has to check into the halfway house. I hope Amber usues whatever time she gets on MTV to educate viewers about real life consequences about making a bad choice. i wonder if they will just follow Gary with Leah? or replace her? I would really like to see one of the moms(I know there are several) that is still living with the baby’s father or got married & are going to school or working & trying to make it.

Even if she can’t be on teen mom I don’t think they will replace her they may just follow Gary and Leah!

Smart judge, and good luck to Amber. I’m really glad that she’ll be focusing on herself and getting better, not the camera crews.

    • Jessica

Thankgod I’m so over her crap anyways

    • Paige

All very reasonable conditions. Good luck to Amber, I really want to see her stick it out this time. This is the best thing for her.

    • Kat

      good I can’t stand her.

    • EMMY

i think that this judge sees that alot of her problems came form being in the media spotlight and figures her not having much time would make her choose recovery all in all i think this is one very smart Judge

I think this will be great for Amber and her daughter. She needs to get her life on track and I am glad she is getting the opportunity to get everything in order. I don’t know if being on the show is a good idea anymore for her. She needs to concentrate on herself and her daughter and move forward with her life.

She’s been given a chance to change her life for the better and start fresh so let’s hope she takes it.

    • Ali

This will be exactly what she needs!

    • Sarah

that is a good idea, she isn’t much of a teen mom. all her moments on the show consist of fighting with gary, being with gary. then fighting with him so more. she doesn’t show much of how it is to be a teen mom, like the other girls do. So what does this mean the whole thing will be off the air, or will Gary and Leah just be on there. confusing me. Excited what they are going to do with that, or if they will address the subject when the season airs in the spring.

    • dunno

I think it seems like MTV might still try to find a way. If they continue to follow Gary, then when she visits her daughter, she would be away from the halfway house and it won’t be when she is working…..I feel like the odds of her not showing up at all are low, though the focus may shift to Gary and Leah.

I really do hope that this works for her, However knowing many people who have gone through drug court I know that it is NO JOKE. They have strict standards (at least in the state I’m from they do) I really didn’t like Amber much but when she started talking about her little sister passing away when she was so young a lot of her problems suddenly made sense. My sister passed when I was only 6 and it took a lot to overcome that once I got old enough to understand. From the sounds of it she was not put in counseling as a child (like she should have been) and I think that has a lot to do with her issues now as well.

Very smart judge. She needs to learn to leave a “normal life”. MTV could have been a great opportuntiy for her future, money wise, but it just did not work out for her.

This is exactly what the judge for Jenelle should do to her. I see nothing good for her future.

    • Sarah

This will be good for her. I hope she still has time to visit Leah and see her though (If she can at all, not sure what their custody agreement is).

    • Squids

I wonder if MTV is going to replace her or just focus more time on the other girls.

    • ds

Aren’t TM episodes taped a year in advance? So technically, all her stuff for the upcoming season is taped and done, and I keep hearing that’s it for the original TM (since they aren’t teens anymore, etc).

    • sherita

I knew Amber would get punished but theyre really sticking it to her! Geesh. This is what needed to happen though. Here her brother was feeding us bull about how the pills were old and we didnt know what we were talking about. Hmmm…

I just want Amber to do whatever is best for Leah, and what is best for herself. If the show is messing with her well-being, then quitting may be the best thing for her.

    • Demona

Honestly? I suspect Jenelle will be on this road. That girl needs to pull herself back before she’s facing a court and a judge orders it. She needs to work on herself off camera for awhile and shut down her fan sites until she’s back together. She’s making a big fool of herself by going untreated for whatever her diagnosis is and always causing drama.

TM is a stupid show, it just makes hard lives harder…
