What Ryan Lochte shouldn’t do is promo interviews for What Would Ryan Lochte Do?
Olympian turned hopeful reality star Ryan Lochte is on the promotional trail for his show, What Would Ryan Lochte Do?, set to premiere Sunday on E!. While we all might have to wait until the weekend to find out what the JEAH man would do, what became painfully and hilariously obvious during an appearance on Good Day Philly is that one of the things he shouldn’t do is interviews!
Anchors Mike Jerrick and Sheinelle Jones walked into a battlefield of blank stares and awkward answers during their attempt to interview Lochte yesterday. In the process, they slowly started losing their cool until they were simply unable to contain themselves, proceeding to absolutely disintegrate in the face of Ryan’s inadequacies after he signed off from his remote satellite location.
Here’s an example of Lochte’s profound insight as he did his best to explain what adjusting to having cameras 24/7 was like:
“The first couple days, it was a little weird. I mean, I was brushing my teeth and the camera was there. I was like, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I mean I guess there’s like a (thinking about it pause) mirror with a sink, and then you have the bathroom.”
When quizzed on how he managed to party all night and still train, Ryan provided a priceless reply:
“My philosophy is if you’re a man at night, you gotta be a man in the morning.”
At one point after being asked what kind of pick up line would get his attention from the ladies, Lochte just stared blankly into the camera for what seemed like forever, unable to answer.
In the midst of the post-interview hilarity Jerrick stated, “Seriously, how are they gonna get enough material?” If the show isn’t just random clips of Ryan doing these types of interviews, I have to admit I’m wondering the same thing.
