VIDEO Florida supermarket fight: Massive brawl erupts over chicken dinner

A Florida supermarket fight–the second such throwdown this summer–recently broke out because of a misunderstanding regarding a chicken dinner. The fight has gone viral, and inspired a bevy of cheeky Twitter hashtags, including the increasingly popular #floridapoultrybrigade.

According to local media, the Florida supermarket fight began when the recipient of most of the violence, 59-year-old Florida man Raleigh Harris, was rude and confrontational with other customers. He bickered with a deli employee while ordering assorted chicken for his `dinner, and, when another employee intervened to try and get Harris to calm down, the man “exploded.”

Said eyewitness Jessica Jordan, He got really outraged and told [the employee] to mind his f*cking business and kinda threw the n-word in there a few times. [Harris] was like running around the deli being chased by these other customers.”

One of those customers, 25-year-old Leon Lightbody, decided he’d seen enough of Harris’ disrespectful ways, and started throwing punches. Other customers joined in–almost instantly, a proper fracas had broken out.

Jordan, while standing at a safe distance, also managed to film a snippet of the fight; check it out below.

(Note: While eyewitnesses reported a bevy of f- and n-bombs being dropped by the Florida supermarket fighters, it’s somewhat difficult to make out the NSFW language in the video. Still–if you’re at work, it’s probably best to turn your speakers down.)

“I was in shock,” said Jordan. “I was like, ‘Ugh, great, rude people.’ I just felt like he was kind of, um, loud and obnoxious.”

This was the second Florida supermarket fight to take place in Orlando in two months. Both Florida supermarket fights went down in the deli. Devoteés will also recall the Florida-esque viral fight that broke out between two mothers and a six-year-old in an Indiana Wal-Mart this past summer.

A Publix spokesman said that, as far as the company goes, deli fights are not “the norm.”
