VIDEO Beyonce 2010 GRAMMY Awards performance of ‘If I Were A Boy’ and ‘You Oughta Know’

Beyonce "If I Were A Boy" and "You Oughta Know"

Beyonce set the 52nd GRAMMY Awards on fire with a incendiary performance of her song “If I Were A Boy” that morphed into the Alanis Morissette anthem “You Oughta Know,” during which Beyonce bounced about on her knees furiously twirling her head and hair about while a raucous horn section was blowing…

WHEW!!! Beyonce is awesome! A fantastic, non-auto-tuned performance that saved the rest of the GRAMMYs (after Lady Gaga’s over-the top kick-off with Elton John) from being a let down! I’m rambling… Here’s the video:

Beyonce’s outfit was great too – metallic black triangles everywhere on a Beyoncelicious poofy mini-skirt. Mmmmmm…

Here’s the original video for Beyonce’s If I Were a Boy followed by the lyrics. (After that is the original Alanis Morissette “You Oughta Know” video with lyrics.)

“If I Were A Boy” Lyrics

If I were a boy
Even just for a day
I’d roll outta bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted then go
Drink beer with the guys
And chase after girls
I’d kick it with who I wated
And I’d never get confronted for it.
Cause they’d stick up for me.

[Chorus]
If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I’d be a better man.
I’d listen to her
Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
Cause he’s taken you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

Beyonce at the 2010 GRAMMY Awards

If I were a boy
I could turn off my phone
Tell evveryone it’s broken
So they’d think that I was sleepin’ alone
I’d put myself first
And make the rules as I go
Cause I know that she’d be faithful
Waitin’ for me to come home (to come home)

(Chorus)

It’s a little too late for you to come back
Say its just a mistake
Think I’d forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong

(Chorus)

But you’re just a boy
You don’t understand
Yeah you don’t understand
How it feels to love a girl someday
You wish you were a better man
You don’t listen to her
You don’t care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
Cause you’ve taken her for granted
And everything you have got destroyed
But you’re just a boy

Alanis Morissette “You Oughta Know” lyrics

I want you to know, that I’m happy for you
I wish nothing but the best for you both
An older version of me
Is she perverted like me
Would she go down on you in a theatre
Does she speak eloquently
And would she have your baby
I’m sure she’d make a really excellent mother

’cause the love that you gave that we made wasn’t able
To make it enough for you to be open wide, no
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you’d hold me
Until you died, till you died
But you’re still alive

And I’m here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It’s not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know

You seem very well, things look peaceful
I’m not quite as well, I thought you should know
Did you forget about me Mr. Duplicity
I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner
It was a slap in the face how quickly I was replaced
Are you thinking of me when you f*ck her?

’cause the love that you gave that we made wasn’t able
To make it enough for you to be open wide, no
And every time you speak her name
Does she know how you told me you’d hold me
Until you died, til you died
But you’re still alive

And I’m here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It’s not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know

’cause the joke that you laid on the bed that was me
And I’m not gonna fade
As soon as you close your eyes and you know it
And every time I scratch my nails down someone else’s back
I hope you feel it…well can you feel it

Well, I’m here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It’s not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know
