Tina Simpson allegedly wrote suicide note before confronting Joe Simpson about his gay lover
Ashlee and Jessica Simpson’s parents Joe Simpson and Tina Simpson are currently going through a messy divorce, but as bad as things are, they apparently could have been much worse.
According to Radar Online, after Tina supposedly found out that her husband, Joe, had a gay lover, she wrote a suicide note, even though she decided not to go through with the actual suicide. The note, written in August 2012, was described as a “cry for help” from Tina, who was distraught to learn that her husband was sleeping with 21-year-old male model Bryce Chandler Hill. In the alleged note, Tina threatened to shoot herself and Joe.
Joe, a former youth pastor, allegedly found the note and immediately turned it over to his divorce attorney.
“Tina was so distraught when she found out about Joe’s secret gay affair, she immediately wrote a suicide note,” a source close to the Simpson family tells Radar. “It was fairly detailed and she said she wanted to shoot herself for what Joe had done to their 35-year marriage. Worse still, Tina wanted to shoot Joe as well. She was just so angry with him. But, instead of killing herself, Tina headed straight to a New York hotel to confront Joe about Bryce Chandler Hill. However, when Joe returned to the Encino home in Los Angeles they shared, he found the note, made a copy and gave it to his divorce lawyer as a bargaining tool for the settlement.”
As we previously reported, Tina filed for divorce in September 2012, after she allegedly found out that Joe was gay and had a male lover. That the suicide note was written in August 2012 fits the timeline perfectly, as it would have been a month before Tina filed. Tina allegedly found out about her husband’s relationship with Bryce Chandler Hill accidentally; she found his modeling photos in the home she shared with Joe and did not know who the boy in the pictures was, until she confronted Joe about it.
Tina, who manages the Jessica Simpson Collection, eventually offered Joe half of their family’s fortune in a divorce settlement; the process is ongoing. Neither Tina nor Joe have commented on the suicide note rumors. Ashlee and Jessica Simpson have remained mum on the subject as well.
