VIDEO PHOTOS Taylor Swift’s unopened fan mail found in dumpster
If you have a young daughter (or son) who is a big Taylor Swift fan then you may want them to turn away, otherwise you might find yourself sitting down with your little one after reading this post and trying to convince her that “Yes, Virginia, there is a Taylor Swift!”
The country singer has found herself in a peculiar bit of hot water after hundreds of letters addressed to her were found in a Nashville dumpster over the weekend. The letters, many unopened, were discovered by Nashville local Kylee Francescan.
“There were like hundreds of letters in there to Taylor Swift and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh!’ I didn’t know if they were stolen [or] discarded, so I threw them in a box,” Francescan told WKRN. “And I’m like, ‘Somebody needs to let Taylor know,’ It did bother me [because] I know how much her fans mean to her.”
Here’s a WKRN video report with actual footage of some of the mail:
Taylor’s fan mail is sent to a P.O.Box located at a Nashville strip mall. Periodically, a member of Taylor’s team visits the location and picks up the letters for delivery to Taylor. Shortly after the story broke, a spokesperson for Taylor’s management team released the following statement:
“Taylor gets thousands of fan letters everyday and they are delivered to her management office. After the letters are opened and read, they are recycled. The only explanation for any letters being unopened would be that a small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling center.”
Taylor’s rep later confirmed to Us Weekly exactly what had happened. “A small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling center.”
