Is Taylor Swift in a Japanese McDonald’s commercial or does she have a perfect doppelgänger?
In 2006, Taylor Swift was releasing her self-titled debut album, living in Nashville and on the verge of becoming a breakout star. Was she also making some extra spending money by filming a Japanese McDonald’s commercial?
In May of that year, a commercial featuring a “sexy female model” with a “Tomato McGrand” was uploaded to YouTube. In the time since, several of the 18 million viewers have noted the star is a dead-ringer for Taylor.
For what it’s worth, we do know Taylor is a fan of ol’ Mickey D’s…
“MCDONALDS WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME I WASNT READY,” she tweeted after their Super Bowl commercial, which showed how the company helps communities after disasters.
Still, there are so many questions: Is it really Taylor doing part-time work? Does she have a perfect doppelgänger working as a model in Japan? What’s a Tomato McGrand?!
UPDATE One of our awesome Twitter followers helped answer our burning questions by saying the real star is Hungarian model Agota Varga. Beyond this McDonald’s commercial (which is actually from 2004), she worked with Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Versace. She does not seem to be very active these days.
Our Twitter follower also explained a Tomato McGrand “is the same as an Arch Deluxe minus the bacon.” We can now sleep easy!
