Soccer star Hope Solo to appear in court today on assault charges
U.S. soccer star Hope Solo will appear in court today after police claim she assaulted two relatives at a home in the Seattle area.
The goalie for the Seattle Reign as well as a former Olympian is currently being held without bail at the King County jail on domestic violence charges per the Kirkland Police Department.
Police allege that the 32-year-old assaulted her sister and a 17-year-old nephew on Saturday. Officers responded to a 911 call in which it was said that a woman would not cease “hitting people” while refusing to leave the residence at which the alleged assault occurred.
Solo was said to have appeared “intoxicated and upset.”
In addition, police stated that Solo’s sister and nephew had visible injuries and that they determined she was the “primary aggressor and had instigated the assault.”
The 2-time gold-medal winner in the Olympics and former contestant on Dancing With the Stars has dealt with controversy before. After the 2007 World Cup she openly criticized women’s soccer coach Greg Ryan.
