It’s the end of an era in Bravolebridom as Sheree Whitfield, one of the three original cast members left on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, has made it official: she’s leaving the show. The announcement came in the form of a statement to WetPaint.com in which Sheree said:
“After four solid seasons of helping Bravo build the show into its most successful Housewives franchise, I have decided to leave. The direction the show is going in is no longer a fit for my lifestyle. I’m tired of the fighting and the cattiness.”
“I want to be part of something that empowers and inspires women to not only be healthy, but to treat themselves with respect. I wish the rest of the women the best of luck. I’m thrilled to say I’m now a free agent and am already fielding offers.”
The announcement may have just been the result of Bravo allowing to Sheree to save face, however, because Radar Online is reporting that the network was the one who made the decision.
“Sheree was fired,” a source tells the site. “She was demanding more money and that didn’t go over well with show executives. They are tired of dealing with her diva attitude and demands.”
But it wasn’t just her salary demands and diva attitude that led to her dismissal, the source adds insult to injury by revealing, “Executives think she’s just boring and they want someone new on the show.”
I have to confess that as much as I like Sheree, she hasn’t tickled my entertainment bone since her infamous “Who gon check me boo?!?” fallout with party planner Anthony Shorter back in Season 2. And as far as being a “free agent” and her claims to be “already fielding offers,” I think we’ve all had enough experience with housewives leaving shows who aren’t getting their own spin-offs to know what that means… (Occasional red carpet events and $12/minute on Dial-A-Star.com)
That officially starts the countdown for bloggers and Andy Cohen for the use of She by Sheree jokes – we all have until the RHOA Season 5 premiere and then we’ll have to openly wonder if people are wearing Alexis Couture instead. 🙁
