Rosie O’Donnell says she wants to buy Honey Boo Boo a house

In an interview with People Magazine, Rosie O’Donnell came out of the closet again . . . this time as a fan of Honey Boo Boo!

On video, O’Donnell declares her love for every member of the family (except Chickadee and Pumpkin) by name:

I love Mama June. I love Sugar Bear. I love Chubbs. I love ’em all. I love baby Kaitlyn. I love SMOOCHIE.

And, on “Smoochie,” O’Donnell segues into her best Mama June impression and pretends to be blowing kisses and hollering at Alana to look at the judges during a beauty pageant.

You can tell that Rosie’s watched the show and that her love for the Shannon/Thompsons is sincere, but she saves her highest praise for Alana.

I think that little girl, Honey Boo Boo, she is like Shirley Temple. She has a presence and an intellect that goes way beyond her years.

And, it doesn’t stop there! Rosie ends the short piece by saying that she’d love to meet the family . . . and buy them a house!!

Well, Rosie, the family will be in LA next week. Although I’m sure their schedule’s already pretty full, they might just be willing to make room for you. As for the house? Well, having made my own pilgrimage to McIntyre and seeing that house with my own eyes, I’m not sure they’d take you up on the deal. They’re crowded in that little clapboard house in the center of town, and the train tracks do run on two sides of their yard; but, it’d be hard to get used to not being half a block from the Flash Foods? And where would they put the deer statue?

Rosie’s offer raises some interesting questions about the future of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and the family it features. Up to now, Alana’s life has stayed more or less on the track it has always been on. She might go to a few more “meet and greets,” but they are at wrestling matches in VFW halls and beauty pageants in small towns all over the South, so they’re not all that different from pre “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” life. But, if the family as even half-decent management, and I pray to god they do, then they’ll soon have more money than they’ve ever imagined. Will they move to a bigger house, and stop wandering barefoot to the Flash Foods for a snack after school? Will they get a different car and stop piling the whole family into Sugar Bear’s truck to go on family outings? Will they develop more expensive tastes in food and leave sketti behind in their impoverished past? Will any of that really be an improvement?

I trust June Shannon to find a good path for her family through this, and I trust Alana to stay in tune with the goodness and kindness that seems to come so naturally to her. But, it might be a wild ride.
