Comedy Central’s satirical king Stephen Colbert abruptly halted taping of his show this week leaving many wondering what happened. The network only gave the following brief statement about it:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, Feb. 15, and Thursday, Feb. 16.”
A little more info has come to light as The New York Post is citing sources close to the show that state the reason behind the abrupt halt in taping is so that Colbert could be with his ailing 91-year-old mother, Lorna Colbert.
Colbert is the youngest of 11 children and the family is an extremely tight knit group. The source said:
“They are a very private family. It’s not surprising that he did not want anyone to know what was going on.”
This same report stated that the show could be back to its truthiness ways as early as next week.
