PHOTOS Scarlett Johansson’s short red Black Widow hair at Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards
Scarlett Johansson revealed her new shorter red hairstyle last night as she strutted the red carpet tile at Spike TV’s 5th Annual 2011 ‘Guys Choice Awards’ in Los Angeles. The formerly famous long-haired blond went from this generation’s Jayne Mansfield meets Veronica Lake to a younger mixture of Annie Lennox and Brigitte Nielsen.
It is assumed the new ‘do is for her character Black Widow in Joss Whedon’s Marvel epic The Avengers, currently filming in New Mexico and scheduled to be released May 4, 2012. Scarlett wooed audiences with her sultry portrayal of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2 and it’s a little surprising that she would trim her famous locks so short to reprise the role.
When I’m doing posts about how a woman looks I try to get beyond my shallow and fairly typical heterosexual male preferences, and in that spirit let me say kudos to Scarlett for trimming off those heavy strands of male oppression! (Ahhhhh but the real me is crying man tears over the loss of one of celebridom’s sexiest assets. I think Scarlett is a beautiful and attractive woman regardless, but I confess that if I was somehow allowed to be drunk near her a year ago and somehow gathered up enough inebriated courage to say something horribly sexist and embarrassing, it definitely would have been, “Can I touch your hair?” Which, as you could probably guess, is waaaaaay less terrible than what I might be inclined to say to other women trapped in the same unfortunate situation.)
I’m also not feeling the dress. I’ve never been a big fan of the huge chest ruffle and this look certainly didn’t convince me otherwise. (Man – I’m just a big Danny Downer today! Let me iterate that I think Scarlett Johansson is a gorgeous woman and that I think she is a gorgeous woman in these photos. That being said, give me Scarlett with golden locks in a tight red dress any day of the week!)
One thing I am happy about – Scarlett hasn’t cut her famously long legs any shorter!
