VIDEO PHOTOS Saint Angelina Jolie blesses Pakistan with her presence
Angelina Jolie has taken a break from saving the world on the big screen so she can do a little world saving in real life. The famously charitable actress was in Nowshera, Pakistan today to help bring attention to the plight of over 21 million people who have been impacted by the country’s worst flooding in recorded history.
The floods began in the northwest part of Pakistan in July causing the Indus River to rise moving southward. The flood waters have claimed the lives of over 1,700 people and destroying hundreds of villages and towns. Aid to the country had dried up over the last week or so and there are hopes that Jolie’s visit will help raise awareness of the catastrophe worldwide and reinvigorate the flow of funds.

Jolie is a “goodwill ambassador” for the U.N.’s refugee agency and talked with reporters after visiting a refugee camp in the Jalozai area:
“I am very moved by them and I hope that I am able to, today and tomorrow, be able to do something to help bring attention to the situation for all of the people in need in Pakistan.”

Her black robe and red-striped head scarf are common examples of the kind of clothing worn by Muslim women in Pakistan.
