Lady Gaga and Donatella Versace seemed inseparable during last night’s Academy Awards celebrations. The fashion-forward ladies paired up for Elton John’s 22nd Annual AIDS Benefit and then for Vanity Fair’s After Party.
Lady Gaga began the night by walking the Oscar’s red carpet by herself. Even then, she stayed close to Donatella in spirit by wearing a lavender Versace gown.
Despite buzz that she was going to perform at the big show, Gaga left the Academy Awards mid-way through the show to attend Elton John’s gala. She was seated beside Donatella, who had a big hand in selecting Gaga as the face of Versace’s Spring 2014 collection.
Earlier in the day, Donatella told Pret-a-Reporter Gaga’s look was entirely her own.
“It was her idea,” Donatella said. “She wanted to dress like this, do her hair like this, and her makeup… No one tells Gaga how to dress. Not even me.”
Even though Donatella didn’t tell Lady Gaga how to dress, it seems the younger singer took a page from the designer’s book: Both had platinum hair, fairly pale makeup and lightened eyebrows. E! Online reports the ladies were “smiley and touchy” while watching the telecast. They also socialized with Neil Patrick Harris, Jane Fonda, Heidi Klum, Kelly Osbourne and Elton John.
