PHOTOS Iowa robbery suspect uses Facebook to taunt, talk with police
An wanted Iowa man who fancies himself some kind of modern Jesse James is using Facebook to taunt the Des Moines Police.
Late last month, 31-year-old Andrew Bolden was caught by Sears Department Store surveillance cameras allegedly stealing $850 worth of appliances. After grabbing the items, Bolden reportedly assaulted a loss prevention specialist before ditching the goods and leaving the store.
The Des Moines Police Department appealed to the public via Facebook a few days later for help tracking down Bolden. According to the post, he is wanted for 2nd Degree Robbery (relating to the Sears incident) and 2nd Degree Theft for having control of a stolen car.
Apparently loving the attention, Bolden took to Facebook to set the record straight.
I shoplifted sum s**t, sorry if thats a lil to gangsta for all u thugs out there …no i didnt hit anyonwe n it wasnt a robbery n dont dare any one ask why i did it if u havent put any money in my hand or stopped my crazy bm from legaly stealing everything i had or her b**ch sister from snitching on me. i have no idea why im on the news( get a life dmpd, go catch a pedcophile or something like a real society f**ker upper) im now having the time of my life, and wont get caught unless i want to because obviously the des moines police department are idiots… TO THE DMPD AND SEARS…DROP ALL FELONIUS CHARGES OR I PROMISE TO SHOW YOU WHAT A REAL CRIMINAL IS!!! YOU ARE NOT READY NOR DO YOU WANT THAT ON YOUR CONSCIENCE. i AM smarter than you.
Emboldened Bolden then responded directly to the Des Moines Police Department’s original message.
Speaking to WHO-TV, Sgt. Jason Halifax said this is the first time a suspect has engaged with officers on Facebook.
“He’s taunting us a little bit and that’s fine,” Sgt. Halifax said, adding they’re confident it will end in an arrest.
But Bolden’s since made it even more clear he won’t go down without a fight: “Now I strive to be public enemy #1….yup, I got nothing to lose but the world to gain…how dangerous am I? by the way the police forgot to warn the public that i’m a martial arts expert and my iq is quite on the high end, yall ready!!!???”
He also continued to taunt the police on his Facebook page by stating his travel plans for the coming weeks. He added, “If ya cant get me within a week then u should retire as a cop or go catch a real criminal.”
As of this morning, there still aren’t any reports that Bolden’s been apprehended — although he indicated yesterday he was preparing to do something: “bye fans n haters sombodys gotta end the madness see ya on the other side.”
