I assumed Lady Gaga would be making a grand entrance at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards given that she is on the brink of the release of her much-anticipated album Born This Way, but once again I am completely taken aback by just how grand. Actually, “grand” may not be the appropriate word here. Words like bizarre or surreal would be more fitting to describe the pseudo-transparent egg-like sarcophagus in which Lady Gaga was toted onto the red carpet by four muscular dudes. Lady Gaga has been receiving criticism over the past few months for taking herself and her ARTPOP “movement” a little too seriously, and the singer seemed to poke a little fun at herself (jut as she did as host of Saturday Night Live) by arriving at the American Music Awards literally riding her high horse. It wasn’t an actual horse, of course, of course, it was more of some kind of Star Wars stormtrooper horse powered by two human beings (aka interns).
