PHOTO, VIDEO – Justin Bieber’s new spiky hair, political views, and “girlfriend” Selena Gomez screensaver

Justin Bieber is growing up! Just last year he was 15 years old and probably still had his “new baby smell.” Now he’s 16 and things have changed. Most notably his voice.

His Grammy performance proved that his signature teeny-bopper high range had dropped considerably. He also has a rumored steady girlfriend, and in the new Rolling Stone he ditches his helmet hair for a spiky do while he expounds on his thoughts about sex and political issues. He’s a busy little dude, so he hasn’t had much time to research any of it.

I have to admit that I’m digging his new spiky hair on this Terry Richardson shot cover. And is it me, or is he getting prettier? He kind of looks like Emma Watson in this photo.

Here’s what Bieber thinks about abortion and politics in general:

He isn’t sure what political party he’d support if he was old enough to vote. “I’m not sure about the parties,” Bieber says. “But whatever they have in Korea, that’s bad.” He does have a solid opinion on abortion. “I really don’t believe in abortion,” Bieber says. “It’s like killing a baby?” How about in cases of rape? “Um. Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.”

Premarital sex?

“I don’t think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them,” Bieber says. When asked if he believes in abstinence until marriage, Bieber – who is reportedly dating fellow teen star Selena Gomez – seems wary: “I think you should just wait for the person you’re…in love with.”

At least he’s being honest and not spouting off abstinence-until-marriage lines to promote a PR agenda.

As for details on his personal life, The Biebs wouldn’t squeak, but his computer background image said it all. Rolling Stone reporter Grigoriadis caught a personal photo of the two teens together as Justin’s desktop background image on his computer:

Near the end of their time together Grigoriadis caught a glimpse of Bieber’s desktop image on his laptop: It was him and Gomez against an orange sunset. Bieber quickly closed the computer when he noticed that Grigoriadis had seen the picture.

Trying to hide this is probably just for Selena’s own personal safety. Esperanza Spalding, who beat out Bieber at the Grammys for best new artist, probably has to spend any new earnings she’s gotten from her Grammy fame on security to protect her from angry swarms of Bieber fans.

Video from the shoot where he answers fan questions, including where he gets that faraway look in his eyes during photo shoots (answer: boredom):
