Nick and Vanessa Lachey welcomed son Camden John yesterday evening. The couple, who wed in July 2011, announced that they were expecting a boy back in July, and now that he’s here, they couldn’t be any happier.
“We are incredibly proud to announce the birth of our beautiful baby boy, Camden John Lachey,” the couple told PEOPLE Magazine in an exclusive statement. “Born today at 6:54 p.m., he came into this world at 8 lbs., 9 oz. and 21 inches. Love has truly been redefined for both of us.”
“I can’t even explain how excited I am,” Nick told the magazine last month. “For someone who has wanted a family for such a long time, I’ve looked forward to this moment. Now that it’s almost here, it’s awesome.”
The 98* singer announced that his wife was pregnant for the first time while he was co-hosting an episode of Live! With Kelly.. At that time he explained, “I’ve had a chance to do a lot of great things in my career and my life but this is the one thing that, more than any other, I look forward to. The fact that it’s actually here — it’s overwhelming.”
As for the name Camden John, Vanessa had a bit of an unconventional way of testing it out. “We’ve been yelling it around the house. Nick and I love it,” she said just a few months ago. “We’re going to tell him first, and then introduce him to the world after he knows his name.”
Ironically, Kristin Cavallari, who was rumored to have dated Nick back in 2006, gave birth last month to a son who she named Camden Jack.
