Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger apologizes for gays and Jews remarks

Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger

Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger wants you to know that she’s all sorry and stuff for the cringeworthy comments she made about homosexuals and Jews during her appearance on her own network’s Watch What Happens Live with host Andy Cohen.

In case you’ve missed it, here’s the clip where Andy patiently tries to understand what on Earth Patti was trying to say with her comments:

A gay man called in to the Cohen hot line asking a question about maintaining an open long-term relationship. Stanger said, “In the gay world, it will always be open (insinuating gay men avoid monogamous relationships),” and continued, “I’ve tried to curb you people.” She then referenced a gay sex site.

Sadly, she didn’t stop there as she opened up some strange Stanger philosophy about Jewish peeps as well. Another caller stated that the men she had been dating were only telling her what she wanted to hear. Patti asked the caller if her boyfriends were Jewish explaining that, “they lie.” Stanger, who is Jewish, was informed by the caller that her beaus weren’t Jews.

As you can imagine some of Bravo’s viewership didn’t take too kindly to Stangers comments and started tweeting hard against the outspoken reality star. They even started a hash tag twitter trend of #cancelStanger. Since the show Stanger has taken an “oh sh!t!” public persona defensive position trying to make amends for her candid statements.

She tweeted:

She also told TMZ, “I am so sorry. I did not mean to offend anyone with my comments last night.”

As for Bravo, they made the following statement about the Stanger stingers:

“Patti’s comments are not representative of the network’s beliefs and opinions.  We apologize for the offense it caused.”

I loved how gay-Jewish host Andy Cohen made an amazing array of awkward turtle faces and then summarized Stangers thoughts by assuming he must be, “…a non-monogamous liar.” As always Andy kept it light and cool.
