Miley Cyrus talks VMA performance, was wanting to make history like Madonna
When Miley Cyrus hit the stage with tail and tongue wagging for the VMAs she had one mission in mind, and that was to give a performance that would have folks talking about it not only for days but for years.
Cyrus has finally opened up about her twerk-fest that sent Twitter into shock waves in an exclusive clip provided to MTV that’s part of an upcoming documentary. “Me and Robin [Thicke,] the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now,'” the 20-year-old said of her much-talked-about appearance.
Miley stated:
“I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music? Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, that’s what you’re looking for; you’re wanting to make history.”
“What’s amazing is I think now, we’re three days later (the clip was filmed 8/27) and people are still talking about it. They’re over thinking it. You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn’t even think about it ’cause that’s just me.”
There you have it. Miley knew she was making history during a performance she didn’t even think about… Or something like that.
