Loving husband dies while giving CPR to wife of over 60 years
A South Carolina man collapsed and died while attempting to give CPR to his ailing wife of over 60 years. The couple was found lying dead next to each other in their home on Monday.
84-year-old Dave Molter was attempting to revive his 83-year-old wife Corrine when the tragedy occurred. Close friends of the family said that Corrine was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s, according to WSOCTV.
Those close to the Molters added that Dave would wait on his beloved wife hand and foot and that when Corrine went for walks he would follow her, but stay out of sight.
The couple’s caretaker, Brandy Williams, was the one who found them at their home after kicking the door open when no one answered. She said, “(They were) just wonderful people. I’ve never met anybody like that in my life. I think they helped me more than I helped them. They helped my heart.” She added, “They had the kind of love you see in the movies, not the kind you see in real life.”
Neighbor Elke Hall (70) said, “It’s sad, but it’s probably a blessing. He would have been lost without her. If you have to die, that’s the way to go.”
The couple has a daughter who lives in Hawaii, a son in North Carolina, and siblings in Florida and Maryland who were all headed to the family home.
