Lil’ Wayne pleads guilty to 2007 gun possession in New York City, faces 8 months in jail
Lil’ Wayne, real name Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., had plead guilty to possessing a gun in 2007, and now faces from 8 months to a year in prison. He was busted on July 22, 2007 when police pulled over his tour bus because they smelled pot and found a gun in Wayne’s Louis Vuitton bag. Authorities found Lil’ Wayne’s DNA on the gun, and he was expected to plead guilty in exchange for only 8 months in jail as party of a plea bargain.
Without a plea deal he could have faced up to 15 years jail time under New York’s strict gun laws.
Here’s a video of Lil’ Wayne arriving at the courthouse from TMZ:
And that’s only the beginning of Weezy’s legal troubles as he’s still facing similar charges in Arizona stemming from a similar situation. During a traffic stop police in Yuma County found a handgun as well as marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and drug paraphernalia on his tour bus. LW entered a not guilty plea on those felony charges with the trial set to begin in March of 2010.
